Missing the Gym? These Are Classes You Can Stream For Free Now
Don’t cancel your workout just because the gyms are closed. If you take one or a few of these online streaming workouts, you will not only maintain your sanity but also your weight while you’re at home and practicing social distancing.
Bonus: many of these classes have digital communities that you can tap into, which can be a huge boost to your well-being right now.
The best part is that these classes are free or affordable and don’t get any more convenient than this.
Why you should consider these classes:
Exercise will help keep your immune system strong, which is a good thing to do now.
Exercise is good for our mental health, which we need to be taking extra care of during times like these.
By the time we get back to normal, nicer weather will be here and you’ll want to be out enjoying it, not stuck in a gym!
The more you can keep things together during challenging times, the more personal growth you’ll make.
It’s important to establish routines when you’re stuck working from home or have extra time on your hands.
I tried most of these classes and I’ll just say, they’re not bad at all. I think there’s a class here that anyone can enjoy for a few months.
With 305, you can live stream a cardio dance class on YouTube or Zoom at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET for free. Classes are hosted by the founder Sadie Kurzban, who will help you work up a sweat if that’s your thing.
The chain-gyms are using live streaming as a way to support their members, despite being closed. I imagine it’s a great way for them to attract new members too. Take advantage by checking out the Crunch Fitness live streaming link.
I love dancing! I love it so much, you could say the dance floor (whether it’s in a studio, a club, or my living room) is my happy place. So, I was extra happy to discover Dance Church. They have a physical studio close to me, so guess who’s going to check them out when they reopen?

You don’t need to get their famous bike and treadmill if you can’t afford one or don’t want to. Peloton has several free classes on the Peloton app and gives new users a 90-day free trial. After that, membership is $12.99 per month plus tax.
Planet Fitness is live streaming “Work-Ins” on Facebook every day at 7:00 pm ET. The 20-minute sessions are the perfect duration for the amount of exercise I want to be doing now.
The Y just launched YMCA 360, where you can take on-demand classes in yoga, barre, Bootcamp, tai chi, boxing, and weightlifting. They also have a few kid-friendly video clips with instructions for soccer and a couple of other sports.
